Dear Internet,
The other day I made an executive decision:
I’m no longer going to count anything having to do with food (calories, protein, carbs, water, etc) for awhile. May ever.
It’s been fucking freeing. I didn’t realize the stress I was under tracking food until I stopped.
Instead, I’ll continue with my high protein breakfast, lunch, and snacks which are all portioned. Dinner is also portioned. If I lose more weight, then great. If not, also great. Continue to drink my water and limit my caffeine. Continue with movement 3-5x a week.
I’m just over beating myself up that I didn’t lose a zillion pounds after having surgery. (My doc did say it can take about two years to reach goal weight so who knows.)
The patriarchy is strong here but I am giving it a huge middle finger as I refuse to kowtow to its expectations.

A zillion years ago, I used to record AMUN issues and present it as an option to listen to. Substack now has a podcast option which looks like it can be syndicated to Apple Podcasts (and possibly other vendors)? Not sure; need to research more. I’ve thought of doing podcasts over the years. The idea I had was “Automusicbigraphically” – episodes on the history and research of songs and albums that have influenced me over the years. The title is bit of a mouthful.
Anyway, anyone interested in audio of AMUN? I’d do just the Sunday issue and the audio would be released on Monday or Tuesday.

This week is a bit of a hodge podge because I’ve got two projects in motion, both of equal stature. Free time has been spending on research, development, meetings, training, and planning for both. My brain is fried.
Mr Lisa is on board for both projects. I hate being vague, I blab about everything you see, but these projects are going to take forever to launch and I don’t want to give false starts.
I’ve tried to make a go of both types of projects in the past but I got so overwhelmed that I would quit. This time I’m taking it slow, doing the planning and research, and going at my own pace.
One thing I can say is I’m joining Toastmasters to get better public speaking skills. I’m great one-on-one and while I do put on a mean presentation, and I don’t have problems speaking in large crowds, I def have some idiosyncrasies that show up when I speak in front of crowds. Like saying, “um” a lot.
OH! Here’s a question: Do people still use business cards?
More updates later.

Oh! I’m going to be in Michigan next weekend so no issue for February 3, 2024!
Wonderful Thing
As most of you know, I’m a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies, which I last wrote about waaaayyy back in November 2022. But outside of that, I don’t watch Hallmark movies during the year. No particular reason, it just doesn’t pan out.
However, in February, Hallmark is launching “Loveuary.” Every Saturday night in February, Hallmark has a brand-new movie spun off or related to Jane Austen. I’ll be recapping weekly over at the Excessively Diverting newsletter if you wish to follow along.
Austen video adaptations have been ongoing since the turn of the 20th C when the first adaptation of Pride and Prejudice was released in 1938 (which I haven’t seen). IMDB has a list of over 100 adaptations of Austen’s work and that’s not all of them! (Christ, I had no idea there was that many!)
Hallmark’s movies are:
February 3, Paging Mr Darcy. “When an overly serious scholar attends a Jane Austen annual conference, she strikes a deal with the man playing Mr. Darcy and finds her perspective, and her heart, changed.”
February 10, Love & Jane. “Lilly, a hopeless romantic and literary enthusiast, is surprised when her wish to talk to her favorite author comes true and Jane Austen herself appears in her life.”
February 17, An American in Austen. “Harriet, who thinks that no real man compares to Mr. Darcy, is transported into Pride & Prejudice and gets an unexpected chance to find out.” (Sounds suspiciously like Lost in Austen, which came out in 2008.)
February 24, Sense and Sensibility. “A period adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. After a change in circumstances, Marianne is torn between two men, while Elinor longs for a man beyond reach.”
I have reminders set!
Rom-comly yours,
