š lisa writes stuff issue šļø #41 Love on the Lakefront is Here!
Ahhhh! Iām published in something I did not publish!
Dear Internet,
Love on the Lakefront: Romantic Tales from the Great Lakes is now live in the world!
Am I pumped?
I am PUMPED!
My author copies came in last week and Iāve been fondling them with much joy. Mr. Lisa, ever the optimist, said that it felt like a real book (OK????). I donāt know what the fuck he was expecting!
The book publisher is working out a contract with Amazon who is very strict on stocking titles that are not Amazon/Kindle published. Right now, weāre waiting for all the anthology authors to sign the contract claiming rights to their work. Once that is done, Amazon will stock and sell the print book and via Kindle.
So! This is to say the titles currently sold on Amazon are via third-party sellers (and more expensive!) and I do not get royalties.
If you want a print copy, you can do one of three things:
Wait for it to be carried on Amazon
Buy it from Barnes & Noble ($18.99)
Buy a signed copy from me direct ($15 + $5 shipping)
If you buy from me, you get bookmarks!
If you want an eBook version, you can do one of two things:
Wait for it to show up on Kindle
Check out other links such as Nook, Kobe, and Smashwords: https://books2read.com/loveonthelakefront
If youāre a bookseller or librarian, the book is available on Ingram and Baker & Taylor. (If youāre a bookseller, Iāve been told the cost of the title on Ingram gives very little wiggle room for profit. If you want to stock, reach out to me directly so I can give you a near cost price.)
Whatever you decide to do, continue to support indie authors!

I think about writing all the time but have yet to work on any of my stories. Two weeks ago, I mentioned The Ekphrastic Reviewās contest, Tickled Pink, had ended and I did not submit. However, I loved the pieces I picked as the prompt and I was going to focus on one of those pieces for a story. The end date for their open call is July 31. I donāt think Iām going to make it so Iāll submit in their next open call of October 1 ā 31. Iāll have to keep an eye out for their challenges which occur on the reg.
A couple other calls have passed. The queer anthology call ends on July 31 and today is July 24. I have a really great idea and the word count is 2000 ā 6000 words, which is fairly easy for me now that I know I can write in big chunks. This weekend is wide open (aka no visitors or plans) so thatāll give me time to write.
I also have it on my agenda to start looking for other open calls where I have some time to breathe in my writing.
