Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #13 Law enforcement checking on motorists. “They were just taking photographs.”
Every week, Leelanau county's (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.
Thursday, Oct. 22
8:07 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Law enforcement checking on motorists. “They were just taking photographs.”
10:30 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Juvenile was supposed to come back two hours ago; trying to get to Grand Rapids; not there yet.
1:46 p.m. — Kasson Township — Subject hasn’t been heard from in two to three weeks. No answering phone or returning texts. Deputy responded. It appears the house has been vacated.
Friday, Oct. 23
4:01 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller received a letter from unemployment office claiming she filed for unemployment. Caller hasn’t filed.
10:12 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller is reporting his daughter is missing. Would not provide any more information. Per Tribal Police, female ran away three weeks ago.
Saturday, Oct. 24
1:57 p.m. — Leland Township — Older male with a dog; in his 60s with beard, blue jean jacket with hoodie walking a sheep dog. Caller thinks he’s casing properties.
10:59 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Vehicle in driveway. Sitting with its lights on. Shouldn’t be there.
11:07 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller is concerned because her son left South Bend, Indiana at 5:30 p.m. and has not returned home. He is also not answering his phone. Broadcast a be-on-the-lookout message for overdue motorist on the west side of the state. (Caller called back. Son just walked through the door.)
Monday, Oct. 26
8:31 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Customer confrontational and rude about mask yesterday and today.
10:35 a.m. — Caller heard three loud banging noises downstairs about 11:30 last night. Possibly sliding glass door. Saw nothing when got up. Thinks it is harassment. (Caller called back and advised he was able to figure the situation. Does not need law enforcement.)
5:55 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Tribal fishing boat is having difficulties. Requests tribal officer to contact him to figure out who else to contact. (Contact made with tribal official he will respond.)
