Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #19 Caller’s cat is looking at him.
Every week, Leelanau county’s (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Wednesday, Dec. 2
7:58 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Client hasn’t got her mail or papers for five or six days. Per several neighbors and friends, resident is in the hospital but is expected home today.
6:11 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Political signs still out even after the election.
Thursday, Dec. 3
2:51 a.m. — Leland Township — Hang up. Signal came from the middle of the channel on North Lake Leelanau. There was a male on the line and he advised he had an emergency then hung up. (Law enforcement made contact with someone in the residence. Everything was fine.)
1:41 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller requests a welfare check. Hasn’t heard from subject in three days.
2:02 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Found men’s wedding band.
Friday, Dec. 4
8:30 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller’s husband is being disorderly and won’t leave him alone.
4:32 p.m. — Cleveland Township — People inside the building. Caller can hear glass breaking. Five vehicles there.
8:34 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Subject is not answering her phone. No immediate medical concern but hasn’t been answering her phone. Last spoke to her at 3:30 today. (Contact made. Helping with phone. That was the issue.
10:21 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller requests a check on subject that drinks a lot. Caller is worried about her health. (Subject appreciated law enforcement checking in. No concerns about female’s health.
Saturday, Dec. 5
3:04 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller’s cat is looking at him. Blinds are tore up and bottom door in unlocked. Unknown if there was forced entry. Homeowner requested dispatch send deputies to her home and check for signs of anyone having been inside. (Law enforcement completed a walk thru and spoke with home owner. Confident that there was no breaking and entering and that is was just the cats.)
10:25 a.m. — Bingham Township — Customer refusing to leave. Belligerent male. No threats just coming across counter pointing finger in caller’s face. (Manager is going to review tapes to see what further action they want to take. For now, suspect in not allowed in store.)
Sunday, Dec. 6
2 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller noticed on camera that there have been five deliveries to the residence using her address — three from Fed-Ex and two from the U.S. Postal Service. Caller advised Fed-Ex not to deliver there anymore.
Monday, Dec. 7
11:34 a.m. — Empire Township — Legal and financial papers missing. Caller is uncertain if the items were lost or stolen.
12:04 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Daughter is taking stuff out of the house. Dementia issues. Daughter is helping to move her into an assisted living facility.
6:08 p.m. — Centerville Township — Elderly male on bike with black trash bag. Taking items from mailboxes.
8:20 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller gave out information in an Amazon scam.
Tuesday, Dec. 8
4:41 a.m. ‚ Bingham Township — Male wearing olive colored jacket with hood. He was standing in the middle of the northbound lane.
5:20 a.m. — Bingham Township — Male on caller’s porch ringing the doorbell. States he needs a ride. Call 911. Five minutes ago. Now not on the porch had a big winter hat, boots and a coat. Law enforcement made contact with caller. Walked the perimeter of the house to see if there is anyone around. Deputies made contact with subject, who was “totally uncooperative.” Not drunk. Trying to get to the goodwill Inn. He won’t give name information but will not longer knock on doors.
