Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #22 Caller says cows are starting to get rowdy
Every week, Leelanau county’s (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.
(Ed. All spelling errors and grammatical mistakes left in place.)
Wednesday, Dec. 23
3:39 p.m. — Solon Township — Patron in a Range Rover refused to wear a mask and refused to leave to get a mask. Driving a blue/green Range Rover.
7:28 p.m. — Solon Township — Subject received a call from a friend stating that a vehicle has pulled into their driveway and then back out a couple of times. Caller is feeling nervous. They would like the area checked.
7:43 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Five to six cows loose in the yard. Caller says they are starting to get rowdy.
Thursday, Dec. 24
10:25 a.m. — Leland Township — Vehicle took out house numbers near mailbox. Wrecked some shrubs.
11:58 p.m. — Elmwood Township — For the last hour and a half music has been playing. Maybe from a shop or garage. Deputy listened by the roadway. No noise going on at the moment. Spoke with homeowner and he advised he will not be playing music anymore tonight.
Friday, Dec. 25
4:27 a.m. —Cleveland Township — Caller reports a vehicle has been honking their horn for 20 minutes. It did not sound like a car alarm was going off.
4:32 p.m. — Leland Township — Woman across the street came outside, sat in a chair on her porch and said “It’s an emergency. Do you have any Coke?” She has since gone back inside. (The patient had taken too much insulin and was concerned that her blood sugar would be depleted. So her friend was asked for Coca-Cola so she could get her sugar back up.)
Saturday, Dec. 26
4:32 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller was walking by a house where a dog had previously attacked her dog. The dog came out again and attacked her dog.
8:50 p.m. — Bingham Township — Male needs to be escorted out. A friend. No weapons. May have been drinking earlier.
Sunday, Dec. 27
8:08 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — 911 open line with possibly a child yelling in the background with an adult talking calmly. No answer on call back or response to text message. Second call, range of voices in the background. (Everything is fine. They are trying to locate a phone.)
9:01 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Father ran outside. Suffering from dementia. Fell down. Being aggressive toward the caller. No weapons. Possibly issue with medications.
Monday, Dec. 28
8:38 a.m. — Bingham Township — Runaway teenager. Dad called. Son walked away in Traverse City and caller questions whether he will come home.
11:41 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Single occupant got out of the vehicle in eastbound lane and walked to westbound lane and got into another vehicle. Another vehicle possibly broken down. Slightly blocking the road.
1:23 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller needs to get belongings. Hospitalized for five to six days. Concerned for safety.
4:13 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Family trouble. Female subjects yelling on phone. Subject has left the residence with her brother. Family is going through Probate Court for a petition.
11:07 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Subject is playing very loud music.
Tuesday, Dec. 29
2:49 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Someone was pounding on caller’s back door about five minutes ago. No footprints or anything. Law enforcement made contact with caller. It was the wind blowing on the door.
