Every week, Leelanau county’s (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.
(Ed. All spelling errors and grammatical mistakes left in place.)
Wednesday, March 3
12:31 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Caller thinks someone stole his car — a black Escape, 2014 with “Love” on the front license. Caller was away from vehicle for 30 minutes. Had 1/2 tank of gas.
(Subject called back and advised that his vehicle was found at the coffee shop. Unknown how it got there but does not need to speak to law enforcement.)
8:40 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — GTB Police out with a repossession of a vehicle. Vehicle not there.
11:10 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Family trouble. Sisters were separated.
Thursday, March 4
4:23 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller wants to report her tires are again low on pressure. Her tires are supposed to be at 35 PSI but when she took her vehicle to garage, she was advised that her tires were at 26, 27, 30 and 18 PSI. It was recommended that caller replaced the valve stem which they did. All four are brand new tires and since winter is almost over, caller doesn’t think it is a coincidence as this has happened twice since December. Caller would like this information documented for law enforcement because she believes someone is purposely letting the air out of her tires.
5:08 p.m. — Leland Township — Horse wearing a green jacket is outside of the fence and at the end of a driveway near the road. Dispatch made contact with owner and they are aware the horse got loose. They are trying to get it back in the fence.
5:10 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Lock on garage has been broken. White Chevy truck in private area. Man with plaid jacket. Property owner said he did not want to press charges but he would like the subject trespassed from the property.
Friday, March 5
10:42 a.m. — Elmwood Township — There’s a dog at the entrance of caller’s subdivision eating out of the trash. White with black spots. Looks very skinny. Caller didn’t stop to see if it has a collar.
2:22 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Wife is having a reaction to shrimp.
Saturday, March 6
8:30 p.m. — Kasson Township — Driver stopped in Maple City and took off before going into the ditch. EMS en route to Munson with law enforcement on board.
10:34 p.m. — Empire Township — Loud yelling since after 8 p.m. Ongoing issue. Law enforcement spoke with individuals. They agreed to quiet down. Small gathering. Just talking.
Sunday, March 7
2:12 p.m. — Solon Township — Caller had people staying at house. Trespassers on caller’s property who took pictures of guests.
5:45 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Subject said he did something. Hurt himself somehow.
Monday, March 8
2:29 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller is very upset about tailgaters on M-22 north of 651 all the way to Leland. She is tired of having to pull off the road to let them pass. She is going the speed limit. Caller wants officers to be aware and enforce it better with it being almost tourist season.
As always, don't be an ass. Wear a damned mask.
