Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #33 – 34 Miniature horses are at large
Every week, Leelanau county’s (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Thursday, March 11
7:41 a.m. — Bingham Township — Fence blew down and miniature horses are at large. Caller contacted a friend who knew the owners and made contact. They are going to take care of them.
Friday, March 12
11:29 a.m. — Leland Township — Miscellaneous juvenile activity.
2:42 p.m. — Centerville Township — Caller is concerned about construction trash constantly blowing onto his yard. Nobody at construction site now.
Saturday, March 13
12:36 p.m. —Suttons Bay Township — Caller is being harassed by customer who is angry about order taken a few nights ago. (Law enforcement spoke with complainant. Going to speak with other party involved now.)
3:07 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller can hear kids inside the resort. Laughing. Destroying things. Shaking spray cans. Gray Pathfinder.
9:45 p.m. — Leland Township — Someone who appears to be drunk or under the influence of drugs walked across caller’s property about 30 minutes ago. Caller is concerned due to the behavior not the trespassing.
Sunday, March 14
10:13 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller is out of state. Recently noticed increase in electricity usage at the residence. Concerned someone is there. (No one there. No signs of forced entry. House secure per law enforcement.)
4:18 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller just got into a confrontation with his neighbor reference his dog coming onto his property all the time. When the neighbor came to get the dog, he spun his tires and tore up the road. Caller wants to speak to an office about the damage to the road and for the neighbor to be talked to.
5:46 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Around 5 p.m. there was a vehicle that drove by caller’s house about three times and then stopped and got binoculars out and was looking into the home. Caller would like this as patrol information only and requests extra patrols in the area. (She was advised to call back when the vehicle is in the area.) The vehicle is a red Ford Escape with some matte black on it as well.
7:50 p.m. — Empire Township — Caller is seeing a plane that is trailing black smoke and it looked like it’s falling from the sky at a steep angle. Glen Lake Fire Department notified and will check it out. Unfounded.
Monday, March 15
9:42 a.m. — Centerville Township — Man walks his dog in the middle of the road between 7:50 and 8 a.m. every morning. Caller is concerned that he will get hit or cause a wreck.
2:40 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — White truck and trailer stopping and picking up tree branches on the opposite side of the road. Facing oncoming traffic. Caller thinks it’s a traffic hazard.
3:41 p.m. — Bingham Township — Two basset hounds running loose.
Wednesday, March 17
9:22 a.m. — Empire Township — Larceny of fishing equipment.
2:37 p.m.— Cleveland Township — Suspicious vehicle driving past house and looking at house with binoculars.
5:15 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Subject received a call from a friend he works with. Normally, doesn’t call subject. Worked together 10 years ago. Conversation was strange and ended abruptly. Subject tried to call back but there was no answer.
9:26 p.m. — Kasson Township — Caller was curling when a group of three to four middle-aged guys started getting on the ice. Being disorderly and one male tried fighting the caller’s husband. Caller states they are highly intoxicated and is worried they will be driving.
Saturday, March 20
11:16 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller reports a loud party. She was advised that there is no noise ordinance and that she should talk to her landlord about it. Caller would like a deputy to drive through the area and ask them to quiet down. Law enforcement unable to locate any kind of party.
Sunday, March 21
11:06 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Wife slapped caller across the face. He is now outside the residence.
Monday, March 22
7:17 p.m. — Empire Township — Caller reports someone came to her house and kicked her door. Light-colored jacket. Ran off toward the library.
Tuesday, March 23
1:22 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Suspicious vehicle in school parking lot.
