Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #42 Large turtle in the middle of the road
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

n.b. It’s that time of year again: from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Leelanau County becomes one of the hot beds of tourism so all the fudgies/trunk slammers show up, fuck around, and then leave before it gets cold. Locals love the money, hate the tourists so expect a lot of calls from the locals bitching.
Wednesday, May 19
12:44 a.m. — Solon Township — Someone is trying to get in caller’s house. She can hear noises outside. Rattling and shaking outside. Everything is locked at the house. Front door is barricaded and all other doors are secured. Caller thinks the noises are coming from the east side of the house… (Per law enforcement property and house were searched. Deputy found a rodent in the duct work.)
1:59 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Disorderly person.
5:29 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Dog barking nonstop for at least 20 minutes. Sounds like it’s in distress. (Patrol unable to locate barking dog.)
Thursday, May 20
11:09 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller wants it noted that the caller has posted “no trespassing” on her private drive because a man who lives with caller’s neighbor was using her driveway to cut across on Shugart Shores.
Friday, May 21
12:59 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller says there is something going on at the neighbors. Someone was crying and then someone else was yelling. Caller heard someone running and then yelling after that. (Contacted by law enforcement. Both subjects were advised. Verbal only.)
1:48 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Miscellaneous juvenile activity.
8:02 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller lives near Sugar Loaf and she sees eight cars parked at the lodge. Saw kids coming out of the lodge.
Saturday, May 22
10:17 a.m. — Bingham Township — Neighbors are harassing caller. She also thinks they tried to knock her property marker down. Does not want to speak with an officer. Wants it recorded.
3:26 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Red Porsche southbound, speeding and passing vehicles.
3:27 p.m. — Kasson Township — Horses are loose on the north side of the road.
3:46 p.m. — Bingham Township — Black Lexus swerving over the lines.
6:44 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Large turtle in the middle of the road.
9:09 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Yelling coming from home. A couple males and a female are all screaming.
9:23 p.m. — Leland Township — Prom will be done at 10 p.m. Caller requests a deputy be present in the area.
9:25 p.m.— Elmwood Township — Caller reports a porcupine on the side of the Leelanau Trail. Did not moved when approached. Caller didn’t think it was injured but believed it was abnormal behavior.
Sunday, May 23
12:30 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller sent money to a friend after they asked for assistance. Afterward realized that it was not his friend but a scam. Caller is concerned since the subjects have his location from Snapchat and made some threatening statements.
12:37 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Across the road at the trailer, there is a party with yelling and loud music (Deputy spoke with parties and they were going to turn down the music for the evening.)
1:22 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Major loud party on Swanson Trail going on for hours. Lots of screaming. Caller does not want to be seen. (Per law enforcement, there was a group on Swanson Trail but they’ve just been there a few minutes and they are not loud at all.)
3:22 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller thinks someone has been into her garage and there is “noise going off.” Caller is agitated stating she thinks it may be the people who scammed her. Husband is awake now. Telling the caller that everything is fine.
9:41 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Gray Hummer with roof rack just went down south on the TART Trail. Now heading back north onto Grandview.
Monday, May 24
1:14 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller thinks his college friend made some disturbing statements tonight. Caller thinks he should be checked on. Has anger issues. (Status secure per law enforcement.)
10:53 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Construction crew keeps parking near the entrance to the point causing a traffic hazard. Caller has contacted the crew but the situation has not been solved. (Per law enforcement, there were no direct violations.)
11:49 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Caller says someone dumped dirt from an $80 pot from front yard and took the pot.
10:06 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller saw two teen girls walking by and they pointed at the caller’s house and walked down to house across the street. Tried to walk in that house and open the door. Then continued down road bobbing into people’s driveways. Caller thought it was odd and wanted it noted. Caller does not need to speak to a deputy.
Don’t be an ass. Wear a damned mask. Unless you’re fully vaxxed but don’t be stupid.
