Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #46 – 47: Caller was unable to lure the dog into his house with a turkey sandwich
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16
10:22 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Someone has been stalking caller since 1972 and recently showed up at her home. She wants to know her options.
11:44 a.m. — Kasson Township — Son of grandma drove here. She was not welcome on property. Screaming at caller. She won’t leave.
THURSDAY, JUNE 17
10:28 a.m. — Leland Township — Citizen concerned about delivery trucks blocking the alley. All businesses agreed to speak to delivery drivers about blocking alley.
1:26 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — At the beginning of the Scenic Drive. Sister took off into the woods and texted she is ready to go. Black, grayish dress. No shoes. Purple hoodie. (Friends found her.)
3:09 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Kids threw eggs at windows. Caller will clean it up. Asks for extra patrols. (Deputy found kids that were throwing eggs. Out at caller’s supervising kids while they clean up the eggs.)
5:53 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller was out getting her mail and vehicle was on curb and passed on double-yellow. Burgundy Ford truck. Caller asking for extra patrols.
FRIDAY, JUNE 18
10:29 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller out with dog that was in the middle of the road. Terrier with collar. Dog won’t let caller get near it. Caller was unable to lure the dog into his house with a turkey sandwich.
7:04 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller is concerned her husband needs help. Last spoke with him at 2:15 p.m. and when she returned to the home at 3:15 p.m. he was gone and there is blood on the porch. (Man pulled in. No need for medical attention.
7:08 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Dog in car. Windows are cracked but dog is panting. (No dog found in vehicle.)
SATURDAY, JUNE 19
6:54 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Illegal camping.
12:17 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Female renting unit went to another’s unit to say “hi.” Was bit in the forearm by a dog.
12:29 p.m. — Bingham Township — Fawn standing in the middle of the road. Disoriented. No mom around.
6:34 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Someone has a large boat tied to caller’s mooring. Boat is currently parked on beach near neighbor’s home. Subjects on boat began yelling at caller and shouting vulgarities. (Deputy spoke with caller. Ultimately no crime.)
SUNDAY, JUNE 20
4:03 p.m. — Leland Township — Grandson was up at the field and said that someone took their cars on the fields and dug it up.
MONDAY, JUNE 21
10:46 a.m. — Empire Township — Caller’s dog was attacked by neighbors “rescue” dog.
8:19 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Drunk female walked in and bought an item and then left. White Mercedes SUV. Female stumbling around.
10:59 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Son is drunk and fighting with husband. Separated now. One in custody.
Wednesday, June 23
2:41 a.m. — Solon Township — Caller had a vehicle pull up alongside the caller and attempt a “citizens arrest.” Vehicle followed the caller for a few of his stops. Subject was slurring his words. Unknown make/model of vehicle but appears to be a dark sedan that looks like an officers vehicle. Followed the caller eastbound on 72. (Law enforcement unable to locate.)
6:06 p.m. — Leland Township — Driveway was put in today by contractors. Someone drove up and down the driveway. Caller suspects her ex-husband is responsible. Drives a gray Mercedes SUV. He resides in Traverse City. Caller is currently living in Traverse City. She had come into the lot behind the property to see the progress on the driveway.
Thursday, June 24
10:12 a.m. — Solon Township — Trespassing. Dirt bikes riding across property. Caller would like dirt bikers to check with him prior to riding on property. If they do not check in with him, they don’t have permission.
4:25 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Baby bird fell down a sewer grate and is now stuck. Contacted the Road Commission and they were going to check it out.
8:57 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller is in the ranger station at the entrance of the park with an injured Canadian goose.
9:13 p.m. — Empire Township — Subject injured while jumping out of a golf cart.
Friday, June 25
4:29 p.m. — Bingham Township — Neighbors to the north have a sign in line of vision to the north near curve and hill. Bright yellow. Caller not willing to talk to neighbors.
8:32 p.m. —Leland Township — Caller heard some “cracking” sounds outside. Went outside to check and notice a couple of eggs on her window and side of the house. They had been thrown by someone. This same incident happened a couple days earlier.
9:02 p.m. — Solon Township — Large black duck is wandering around the parking lot at Buntings. Caller thinks she found people to take custody of the animal and will call back with their information. (Caller never called back).
11:03 p.m. — Solon Township — Caller left wallet on steps by accident. When he returned it was gone. (Caller contacted dispatch to let them know the wallet was returned.)
Saturday, June 26
7:15 a.m. — Kasson Township — White horse at large. (Horse was recovered.)
8:29 a.m. — Leland Township — Ongoing problem with parking in the alley and now a “threatening” note has been left on caller’s car.
11:05 a.m. — Leland Township — Ongoing problem with person trespassing on vacant land at the end of High Point Dr. Man in a red Mustang.
1:49 p.m. — Leland Township — White male shirtless with blue jeans. Brown and gray hair walking northbound and then southbound. Going down driveways toward Lake Leelanau. Swinging machete at trees. (Contact made. Subject is clearing brush. He’s OK).
8:47 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township— A group of young kids are being loud. Banging on the portable toilets. Caller would like it checked out to make sure they aren’t doing anything they shouldn’t be doing. (Law enforcement unable to locate youths.)
9:12 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller reports a group of 10 or so “crotch rocket” motorcycles going past this area multiple times. Caller advises they are going so fast you can’t even seen them. Possibly in excess of 100 mph.
Sunday, June 27
12:32 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — There is an elderly couple who lives across the road from the caller. The last couple days there has been really loud music coming from the house. When the caller went to check on them, there was no one around.
2:06 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller found where trespassers are entering property. Now looking for clues.
3:16 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Three teenage boys entered the vacant grocery store in Suttons Bay. (Front door was open. No one there. Building was secured.)
Monday, June 28
11:30 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Manager advises he was told by some of his employees that on two separate occasions someone tried to forcefully enter their condo.
2:45 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Black cat last seen Friday night. Has never been away this long. Yellow collar with tag.
7:34 p.m. — Leland Township — Found two purses on a bench in parking lot across from the Cheese Shanty. No IDs but does have some money.
Tuesday, June 29
3:40 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Intruder on caller’s property. They are trespassing and walked passed his bedroom window. Could smell cigarette smoke.
