Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #49 Just won’t get out of bed to get to a doctor’s appointment
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Wednesday, July 7
10:06 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller’s foster child is not being compliant. Therapist suggested sending law enforcement just to speak with him. Not being violent. Just won’t get out of bed to get to a doctor’s appointment. (Young man will go to his appointment.)
1:04 p.m.. — Solon Township — Caller was at the store. Tried to use card at pump. Pump did not seem to be working so caller thought she cleared transaction before moving on to a different one. But someone came behind her and used her card information at the pump. Caller would like to speak to law enforcement to see what steps she should take.
Thursday, July 8
7:05 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Hound dog, male. Collar with no tags. Running loose. Caller cannot secure animal because she is on her cherry shaker. (Owners came to pick up dog.)
8:10 a.m. — Leland Township — Hispanic male threatened to assault caller and then punched him in the face. Suspect no longer on the premise.
9:39 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller doing service work at residence. Was bit by dog.
1:08 p.m. — Leland Township — UPS driver is being detained by a customer. Individual that was a problem is gone. Apparently it was someone that was blocked by the UPS truck and was unhappy.
2:20 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Individual took caller’s mooring ball last fall and is not returning calls or emails to put it back in. Caller wants advice on where to turn because it is worth money.
10:02 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Man is trying to steal caller’s motorized bike.
11:50 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller found a very drunk female who is not from the area. States she is from Chicago. Drunk female is chasing caller’s car.
Friday, July 9
9:17 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller is in a bad break-up. She got very vindictive. Caller just want the information on system in case there are future issues.
5:49 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Commemorative walking cane was taken. Caller in the process of burying her husband.
9:32 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Group of six or seven people walking on caller’s property. She has a fence up on her property and has asked them to get off but they are being nasty and ignoring her request. (Caller called back and advised subjects left.)
9:46 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Family friend was watching caller’s dog for them and now when they are trying to get the dog back, friend is refusing to give it back.
Saturday, July 10
1:07 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Loud party has been going on since 10 p.m. Caller called back to report the noise had stopped. Then called back to say it was back again. Live band at house. (Band finished their last song. Shouldn’t have any more issues tonight per law enforcement.)
5:28 a.m. — Solon Township — Minors in possession.
10:24 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller runs on the road. Three times now, a man on a black bicycle rides past her and intimidates her and yells foul language. She and her husband are waiting at the intersection now to see if he comes back.
2:38 p.m. — Bingham Township — “Cantankerous” man drinking beer, got off boat, came on the beach and won’t leave. (Departed in his boat.)
9:32 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Park Service out with maroon truck. Tent is set up and it looks like they are trying to camp out.
Sunday, July 11
12:17 a.m. — Empire Township — Group of people in the parking lot being very loud and playing music. Caller tried calling the desk/management but they are not getting an answer.
2:06 p.m. — Bingham Township — Paddleboarders with boat anchored out. Harassing loon on her nest.
9:54 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller reports a large motor home parked in the parking lot and it looks like they are trying to stay there for the night. (Law enforcement spoke with family. They aren’t camping. Just eating dinner and watching the sunset.)
Monday, July 12
1:26 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller reports house to the east of him is playing music very loud. He would like a deputy to try and ask them to quiet down.
3:17 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller was upstairs and saw someone ride bike across the lawn. Got off bike in parking lot. Had a towel in his arm. Stated he was going for a walk on the beach and swimming. Started shouting obscenities. Happened about 2 p.m. today. Subject in mid-20s with blond hair and a turquoise suit.
11:57 p.m. — Leland Township — Group of 20 or more kids jumping off the bridge in Leland.
2:36 a.m. — Leland Township — Someone pulled into caller’s driveway. A male got out and stated he is from Charter and working on the internet. Stated they were only allowed to work in the internet between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. Before call was disconnected, the subject left. Caller did not need a deputy. Just wanted it noted as information.
