Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #50 Ongoing problem with dog parking
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Wednesday, July 14
8:58 a.m. — Leland Township — Planters on the bridge are missing. Stolen or thrown in the river.
9:32 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Loud stereo from ¼-mile away.
9:46 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Ongoing problem with dog parking.
2:49 p.m. — Solon Township — Neighbor has rabbit at large destroying caller’s landscaping. Four cats come over and uses flowers as bathroom and kills birds and squirrels. Caller’s cats get stressed when cats are in her yard.
Thursday, July 15
11:13 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Black Ford Ranger has been parked in the parking lot all morning.
2:20 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Two dogs chasing a doe and her fawn.
3:30 p.m. — Kasson Township — Neighbor’s dog barks for extended period of time.
4:45 p.m. — Leland Township — Person is playing music extremely loud and is disturbing the peace of the adjacent neighbors. (Music being played through Bluetooth speaker. It’s not loud.)
6:07 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Someone went through caller’s vehicle last night. There were things tossed around the car. Unknown if anything was stolen.
7:12 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller has problem with house being constructed across the street. They are destroying the property in front of the caller’s home.
8:10 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Group of people camping. Caller said there were three large dogs walking off leash and one of them charged the caller. The owner was able to call it back before it attacked. Caller is concerned about the lack of care these people are taking with their dogs … letting them run around on their own.
8:36 p.m. — Empire Township — Caller’s mom said there was a creepy man that was on the edge of the their property. Caller saw footprints going down the road. No further description of male.
Friday, July 16
11:46 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Disorderly person.
1:57 p.m. — Leland Township — Child locked in gray Dodge Ram. (Entry gained.)
10:41 p.m. — Empire Township — Black and white Collie from down the road attacked caller’s car. Has scratches on car and was snarling at caller’s dog in the vehicle. (Will be a civil issue. Damage extremely minor to vehicle.)
Saturday, July 17
8:27 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Someone ran into caller’s mailbox. There are car parts in caller’s driveway.
4:11 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Shepherd’s staff taken from grave site. Happened last year also. Caller wants it as info because the last time it made it in the blotter the staff was returned.
5:39 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Approximately eight to 10 juveniles jumping off break wall.
11:54 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Loud party with yelling and screaming. Caller would now like contact. Caller wants to make sure it was “just a fun party and not a hate group.” (Party cooperative and will turn down the music.)
Sunday, July 18
11:08 a.m. — Leland Township — Neighbors dog got out into the chicken pen. Injured some chickens. Ongoing issue.
7:23 p.m. — Leland Township — Men’s bathroom is locked and caller thinks someone might be in there. Can hear the air dryers going on and off. Has been locked for about 45 minutes. (No hazards. Bathroom all clear.)
7:45 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller locked herself out of the Subway. Accidently locked her phone, keys and everything in the store. (Door opened with management assistance.)
8:53 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — At least two students on top of the school roof. Caller thinks there were some males and females. (Two girls released to parents. Still looking for a couple other kids who intially ran.)
10:08 p.m. — Leland Township — Deep pounding bass near the Riverside. Would like them spoken to.
Monday, July 19
10:48 a.m. — Centerville Township — Caller hasn’t heard from a friend since June 3, said he was moving to Hawaii. Hasn’t heard from him since.
11:52 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Ongoing issue with dog constantly barking. Heard it a lot on Friday and again today. (Barking very faint.)
1:33 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller can hear someone yelling “hey” behind his residence and believes they need help. (Someone fell in the mud.)
8:48 p.m. — Kasson Township — Four cows in the roadway. (Animals returned to pen. Owner is on the scene.)
11:17 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Someone is driving golf cart on the course and is being loud and driving hazardously.
