Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #53 Homeowner association president is acting suspicious
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Wednesday, Aug. 4
9:17 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller heard a child screaming. Went to investigate and found an 8-year-old boy stuck in an empty pool. Child said dad was inside.
10:57 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller reports credit card stolen by son. Cards have since been canceled.
1:10 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller has issues with neighbor speeding up and down the road and being confrontational.
2:26 p.m. — Cleveland Township — People riding their bicycles on trail from W. Traverse Lake Road to Good Harbor. Caller advises it is clearly posted that it’s prohibited.
3:10 p.m. — Empire Township — Husband has been missing on the dunes for 30 minutes. He has no health issues. Has water.
(Husband made it back.)
6:23 p.m. — Elmwood Township —Subject very confused. Doesn’t know what she is supposed to be doing.
10:51 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Big explosion. Line on the ground. Transformer on fire. Consumers on scene.
Thursday, Aug. 5
12:03 a.m. — Centerville Township — Caller is feeling threatened. Brother and caller are getting into an argument about drinking. Verbal argument. Both parties drunk. “Brother is screaming at the caller for no reason.” Brother left on foot.
3:27 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller lives on his boat and woke up to someone on his boat that he had to chase off. Late 20s, wearing tight pants and life jacket. Took off on a mountain bike. Thinks he had a cart of things he may have stolen off the pier.
9:37 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Homeowner association president is acting suspicious. Sitting across the road from caller’s house. (All civil. Incident reported in case of more issues in the future.)
11:28 a.m. — Kasson Township — Dog barking all morning across the lake from caller. (Contact made with dog owner.)
7:28 p.m. — Elmwood Township — People parking in front of caller’s house where there’s no parking. Instead parking on the grass. Caller thinks tickets need to be written due to ongoing issues. (Five vehicles on the grass.)
Friday, Aug. 6
10:25 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Male has a truck parked down by the beach with a camper. Citation issued.
4:25 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Miscellaneous juvenile activity.
6:36 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Brother threatened to go into house and beat everyone up. Subject arrested.
8:19 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Male screaming at the top of his lungs. Having a mental breakdown. Four separate calls reporting screaming and foul language. (Taken to Munson for evaluation.)
Saturday, Aug. 7
8:56 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Cement truck was swerving and hit a car parked alongside the road.
10:45 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller says there are issues with people using their property to launch boats. No trespassing signs have been damaged/destroyed. Has pictures of vehicle and trailer plate.
12:37 p.m. — Leland Township — Man is giving owner a hard time about paying for gas with an out-of-state check. (Will pay for gas with a different method and then will be trespassed from the property.)
8:29 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Person on a boat playing loud music. Caller refused to give her name or phone number.
9:31 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Juveniles jumping off the bridge, into the lake.
9:57 p.m. — Solon Township — Caller reports people behind her house in a field. They have large equipment and lights on. They are possibly digging holes. Caller can also hear trees crashing. Caller believes this is suspicious. (Per law enforcement, there is activity taking place. Cannot find any fresh tracks where the equipment entered the field. Clear with no report).
Sunday, Aug. 8
6:38 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Son is drunk and harassing the caller. Damaging the house. Suspect left wearing a white T-shirt and white pants. Caller is in her room with her daughter.
7:55 a.m. — Leland Township — Planters on the Carp River bridge have been replaced and now three of the five have been dumped in the river again.
4:36 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Several people yelling obscenities and threatening to harm each other. Subject wants to go to Munson Medical Center for evaluation.
8:10 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Male in the parking lot appears to be high and is with an older Buick that is running. He is yelling when no one is there. Has been talking to himself for about 30 minutes and is pacing a lot. (Per law enforcement, he was listening to music. He is clear of that location now.)
Monday, Aug. 9
12:38 p.m. — Empire Township — Daughter is receiving harassing messages from an online contact. Caller would like advice about what to do about it. (No criminal actions. Just nasty messages. Subjects advised on how to block sender.)
8:46 p.m. — Leland Township — Males at Schneider’s Beach possibly “tripping out on drugs.” They are screaming and sounds like they are hallucinating. (Subjects were listening to music loudly and singing along. Asked to quiet down or move along.)
