Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #56 Large silver truck has been at the bar two nights in a row
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.

Wednesday, Aug. 25
12:52 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Subject has been staying on church-owned property without permission of the church board. His father was president of the board but is no longer. Board has voted to have subject removed and trespassed from property.
7:45 p.m. — Elmwood Township — One vehicle in the ditch. Man is clenching his chest. Man is not responding. Looking up at the ceiling of the car. (Medical only call. No accident.)
Thursday, Aug. 26
12:13 a.m. — Empire Township — Some has helped themselves to a room. Has been drinking and have not paid for the room. Male was discovered when someone was given the room and went to go into the room. Male is still inside the room. He yelled at the female on site. (Miscommunication between the innkeeper and tenant.)
12:38 p.m. — Empire Township — Motorcycles riding up and down the street. (Great-uncle advised, they will not ride the motorcycles in the road.)
2:42 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller wants to file a complaint. Former boyfriend is messaging caller and stalking her online.
10:50 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Large silver truck has been at the bar two nights in a row. Seems to possibly be staking out the place. Now parked across the street from the post office.
Friday, Aug. 27
6:11 a.m. — Empire Township — Black van with broken window was on caller’s job site. Heard some paper rustling then footsteps running and the van started and took off. Caller was unable to get a plate. Left southbound on M-22 into Benzie County. Nothing was stolen. Caller thinks it’s suspicious.
4:08 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Harbormaster in Northport. Ongoing problem with people using facilities at marina.
6:01 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Coyote looks like it was hit by a car. Needs to be dispatched.
10:08 p.m. — Kasson Township — Bass music being played since 10 p.m. Possibly coming from Pettengill to the south.
10:48 p.m. —Elmwood Township — Sedan pulled up to parking lot about 45 minutes ago. Looks like something is going on in the car. Caller can see a person, possibly a female throwing her arms in the air.
11:04 p.m. — Empire Township — Lightning hit the corner of the house. Piece of siding came down. Gutter is burned. Power went out. Caller doesn’t see any flames but smells like an electrical one.
Saturday, Aug. 28
No apparent calls.
Sunday, Aug. 29
10:54 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller and son were fishing at Veronica Valley and a male in his mid-40s approached. Made some feel uncomfortable.
8:42 p.m. — Centerville Township — Black cow on the east side of the road. Unable to get them to come to the door. (Owners have gotten it back in the pasture and are working to secure the fence.)
Monday, Aug. 30
9:18 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Lost swim raft. Rented. Caller left raft at the end of driveway at 3:45 p.m. and it was gone when caller returned.
9:32 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Slip holder had a breaking and entering on his boat but is reluctant to report it. Harbormaster thinks it should be reported. (Contact made by deputy. Boat owner does not wish to pursue any action or file a complaint.
10:34 a.m. — Empire Township — Ongoing problem with two large, white dogs.
11:08 a.m. — Leland Township — Caller’s boyfriend put her belongings out on the side of the road.
1:17 p.m. — Leland Township — Dog bite on left thigh.
2:54 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Dog in blue Town and Country van. Dog appeared like he wanted to get out of the van. (Per deputy, dog is content. Windows are open. Vehicle mostly in the shade and the store owner is keeping an eye on it.)
4:59 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Young male walking on Carter road. Acts suspicious when vehicles or bicycles are approaching. Wearing a white T-shirt around his head, white gloves, sweatpants with shorts. Caller thinks it should be checked out. (Per law enforcement, it was a “running man.” Not a threat.)
7:54 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Smaller dogs belong to large recreational vehicle in parking lot. Registered owner is a traveling nurse. She and her husband are living in the camper, in the parking lot.
Get vaccinated and mask up! There is a pandemic going on.
