Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #6 Large cows in the road
Every week, Leelanau county's (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.
Note: We’re now up in the county. I am betting at some point someone will call in saying I’m suspicious and thus:
7:56AM – Centerville Township – Suspicious woman walking around subdivision. Tall. Has blue hair. May not be a local.
Wednesday, Sept. 2
8:10 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Deputy flagged down by a motorist stating someone laying in the middle of the road. (Alzheimer’s issue. Patient back with spouse at home.)
12:29 p.m. — Kasson Township — Caller has been threatened on Facebook. Caller reported it to Facebook. Wanted to get it on record.
8:25 p.m. — Centerville Township — Caller is concerned about squatters. Right now there is a silver truck and people are taking stuff out of the houses.

9:53 a.m. — Leland Township — Caller is trapped in his car. Vehicle has no power. Cannot open the doors. Caller is going to call Taghons and Subaru dealership to see if they have heard of the problem. Caller insists he has tried everything to open doors manually. Key fob is not working either.
4:27 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Theft from business 15 minutes ago. Suspects patron who paid for boots with credit card and has video of her taking ring. Owners are OK with ring returned. No charges.

Friday, Sept. 4
12:08 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller is reporting his neighbors are being very loud tonight and would like some help trying to get them to quiet down. No one answering the front door. Noise seems to be coming from the backyard. Small group of people — only four — “karaoke was a bit vigorous.” Going to turn it down.
3:34 p.m. — Empire Township — Strange man driving vehicle around. Jeep Patriot. Driving around. Getting out. Driver taken into custody on a Benzie County warrant.
7:13 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Caller is getting seasick and doesn’t think he’ll be able to make it to shore. Phone pinging 1.3 miles off shore. Caller would like EMS to check him out. Glen Lake Fire Department boat responded.
Saturday, Sept. 5

10:19 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller is at the boat ramp and can’t get into their slip because someone is in it.
The people are becoming aggressive stating they should just take their unused slip, but the caller refuses. Caller also said other parties are yelling profanities. They moved the boat.
Sunday, Sept. 6
12:09 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Loud music and loud voices since around 8 p.m. Spoke to homeowner, they will take it inside. It was not a party, they were just speaking loudly.
