Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #63 Neighbor is keeping ducks illegally
Throbbing Cabin is in Leelanau County whose local weekly newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. Additional reporting by The Ticker.

Wednesday, Oct. 13
8:57 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Dog in a restricted area. Soccer field.
2:27 p.m. — Empire Township — Someone broke into caller’s car and took a tool box. Window smashed.
6:49 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Loud construction work next door. They were going until 8 or 9 at night. This is not acceptable with the caller.
Thursday, Oct. 14
10:25 a.m. — Kasson Township — Caller thinks neighbor’s fire is too big and risks catching the trees on fire. Flames are 6 to 8 feet tall. (Controlled burn, per law enforcement.)
11:50 a.m. — Centerville Township — Internet fraud.
3:53 p.m. — Solon Township — Deputy made contact with parents of a child riding bike in ditch and road. Parent was already scolding child when reached by deputy.
4:24 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller set a gold bracelet on her vanity. Now it is gone.
4:48 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township —Someone left tent fly, liquor and water bottles. Remnants of a bonfire. Had to have been in the last couple days. South side of Smith Road.
9:19 p.m. — Kasson Township — Caller’s father has been gone since noon. Has his Labradoodle with him. He left in a white Nissan, 4-door crew cab. Caller has checked Leelanau Sands and Munson Medical Center and her father isn’t at either. (Missaukee dispatch called. Deputies are out. They will take him back to their department and make contact with the caller to make arrangement to get him picked up.
Friday, Oct. 15
1:14 a.m.— Leland Township — Party noise coming from location. Has been going on for a few days.
(Deputy spoke with subjects involved. They are going to bed for the night. They are here for the weekend but will try to keep in mind that there are neighbors in the area.)
9:17 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Neighbor is keeping ducks illegally. They have been notified of the violation by the township. One of the ducks is in caller’s yard refusing to leave.
10:02 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller is landlord. Served eviction notice to occupants. There are three dogs at the site‚ two on the porch in kennels. (Law enforcement checked out. Dogs were OK.)
10:42 a.m. — Solon Township — Heard noise at 9:30 and saw smoke from car exhaust in back yard. Suspects son breaking in. (Secure. No signs of forced entry.)
11:48 a.m. — Leland Township — Cows are chewing on tree limbs because they are not getting enough food. Caller did not answer or return multiple calls. (Law enforcement drove by the farm. The cattle appear healthy and content.)
1:15 p.m. — Leland Township — Someone parked on both sides of caller’s vehicle. Unable to access. (Illegal parker saw law enforcement arrive and looking at his car and responded to situation.)
4:11 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Aunt wanted to hang out. Forgot cord for X-Box then drove back. Flipped out and had a psychotic break. (Per law enforcement she is fine. Has food, water, electricity. Is not having a breakdown.)
Saturday, Oct. 16
6:19 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller heard noise outside in backyard. A motion sensor light went on and she says an animal can’t do that. (Nothing suspicious found.)
9:06 a.m. — Leelanau Township — House and garage were entered sometime in the last few days. Garden wagon, other items from garage missing.
12:10 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller believes she is a victim of a scam.
Sunday, Oct. 17
2:42 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Loud party at the lodge. (Party will quiet down.)
10:46 a.m. — Empire Township — Caller’s husband has been sick with flu. Slept 48 hours. Can’t get up. Needs help to the car.
1:07 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Dumpster fire near coal docks.
1:52 p.m. — Solon Township — Caller does not feel safe going home. Not treated fairly and not cared for. Caller not allowed to be with dad right now. Been appointed by court as the guardian. (Deputy explained she needs to comply with the court and bring up any issues with them.)
3:31 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller was followed home by a man who lives near her. She had an incident with (she was driving too fast) a year ago and he intimidated her until she went into house. Was driving a yellow Pontiac convertible.
5:29 p.m. — Empire Township — Granddaughter at caller’s residence. She heard someone in the house a couple days ago. Then, at 6 and 10:30 last night. No one was there. Garage was broken into. Back door broken and items thrown around garage. Can’t tell if anything was stolen.
7:07 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Multiple dirt bikes going back and forth across the road. Caller thinks it may be unsafe with it getting darker outside.
Monday, Oct. 18
10:24 a.m. — Bingham Township — Sliding glass door was tipped over on job site. Caller believes it was malicious destruction of property. Doesn’t believe it fell over due to door weighing over 600 lbs.
6:25 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Kids throwing boulders into the water that are supposed to be holding up the shore. About four kids.
7:24 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller reports a dark-colored truck parked on the side of the road across from caller’s driveway. Has been there since 5 p.m. (Deputy made contact with truck’s driver. He was hunting the property with permission of the owner.)
7:49 p.m. — Bingham Township — Deputy checking on vehicle at Veronica Valley Park. Subject was just “hanging out after work.”
