Weekly Dispatch Blotter Highlights: Issue #7 Subject was showering. Disregard.
Every week, Leelanau county's (where our cabin is located) weekly newspaper, Leelanau Enterprise, publishes the dispatch calls to 911. These are the highlights.
These are all real calls.
Thursday, Sept. 10
9:24 a.m. — Leland Township — Someone pulled into driveway at 2 on Saturday and vandalized a Trump sign. Put another one back out yesterday. Someone took it again around 3 to 4 p.m. yesterday.
3:52 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Friday a woman, daughter and granddaughter came into the store. The daughter, along with a male friend, asked for a discount. Caller said “no” and now the subjects are posting negative things about the owner on Facebook. The comments have become racial, although there was no racial component to the interaction. Caller feels threatened and is afraid to leave store.
4:42 p.m. — Kasson Township — Great Dane (non-aggressive) sniffed caller and the dog owner would not call dog off. Swearing.
Friday, Sept. 11
11:39 a.m. — Empire Township — Six young kittens under caller’s front porch. Caller would like to know what to do with them.
2:50 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Front door open. Entrance light on. All lights were on last night. Building was locked.
7:39 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller reports a party going on all day. They seem to only be getting louder. Neighbor tried calling them without success. Going to walk up the driveway to make contact.
Saturday, Sept. 12
1:06 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Female neighbor is jumping the fence and walking the property with her dog.
5:34 p.m. — Bingham Township — Two men in dark truck are behind caller. Passed on double-yellow. Caller was flipped off.
Sunday, Sept. 13
12:20 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Someone is on the property that should not be there. Whoever it is, is scaring caller’s dog. Law enforcement unable to locate anyone there.
9:38 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller’s father is at the family cottage and he’s not answering the phone. Family is concerned. (Subject was showering. Disregard.)
2:42 p.m. — Bingham Township — About a dozen motorcycles speeding.
8:27 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Caller believes there is a man who is living at the beach for the past week. Caller states township has an ordinance that states you can’t sleep on a public beach.
8:33 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Stepson left. Can only be at residence as a guest.
Monday, September 14
4:31 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Someone called to make a reservation. Did not meet requirements to stay. Subject got angry with receptionist. Caller wants this as information only at this point. Will call again if she feels the need to speak with law enforcement.
4:43 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Son, 23, is acting out. Yelling. Screaming. Riding bike toward Suttons Bay.
5:43 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Private drive was sealed today. Someone drove in and out of the cones ruining the sealcoat.
6 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Twelve-year-old male sitting in the middle of the road. Threw his bike down.
8:37 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller can’t reach his friend. Elderly male in his 80s because his phone isn’t working. Speaks to him every other week. Television is on in the house. Contact made. Subject will contact caller to let him know everything is OK.
